The Tonbridge Twister, 10th August 2002

Technically a "Funnel Cloud" and not a tornado as it did not quite reach the ground, but still an impressive and unusual event!

Many thanks to Jenny Saggers for these excellent photographs, taken in the Cardinal Close area of the town. "The day had been very hot and muggy and the skies suddenly got very black and there was a short lived crackling storm with rain like stair rods.  The funnel appeared as the black skies receded and after the rain.  Warm air meets icy air and the consequence was a little funnel!"
